AM - CrossFit:

Strength: Sumo Deadlifts ME 225lbs

WOD: 5-4-3-2-1 for time: 3:20
Deadlifts 165lbs
lateral burpees

I had to switch to deadlift because my shoulder didnt allow me to release pain free on the squat cleans

PM - Lake Workout

Swam half mile at as hard as possible. The wind was a big factor so my time was a little slow of 13:30. We then had a timetrial bike but the wind and the fact that my body was sore and tired, my time wasnt that great. We held a 20 mph average for the first 18 miles, but I was just wiped out on the climb back and in a head wind. We rode 22 miles of hills, wind, and crapy roads and drivers in 1:10 (18.9 mph ave).

That sounds like a fairly decent run timewise, but not fun conditions at all!

CrossFit id for hard core people. I bet your wife does it, too, huh???

Crossfit is killing me and ofcourse cathy is doing it too... she never wants to be left out of anything. :)

Hows your training going? ready to run a sub-3 for st george marathon?

From Kelli on Thu, Jul 14, 2011 at 22:29:41 from 71.219.75.108

My husband LOVES Crossfit. In fact, our first marathon was an attempt to prove that you did not need to train for a marathon---that CrossFit was enough. I trained, he didn't, he learned his lesson!

Hmmm....my little injury has taken me back a bit (gained weight, lost some speed and endurance, you know how it goes). I am not even sure I can pull off a 3:30 right now! I will just keep at it and see what happens. I have not run a race in a bit and am just barely allowed to do speedwork again. I need a good half marathon to see where I am!

You two are both running it again this year, right?

I agree... crossfit is excellent at strength building, but you have to run train too. I am doing the crossfit endurance program which incorporates crossfit and the sport you are training in.... It is killer!!!!

And yes... we are running st george this year. My time will be slower than last year too. Training for the Ironman hurt my running speed.

OH, we have a CrossFit by us, I wonder if they do that. So, the question is, which sport are you training for? Or do you just say, "I do it ALL. I am the IRONMAN!"

From ben on Sun, Jul 17, 2011 at 23:07:37 from 209.33.248.15

I am training all 3 sports... but crossfit is so demanding I may concentrate on running. I just did the Bryce Cyn half and it was not a good race for me (1:44)... Also I started the paleo diet with crossfit and my bowels did not behave! :S Ironman is fun, but it made me so slow in the run. I enjoy running so I may just quit this ironman passion. :)

Paleo diet? Never heard of that one! But never good if it messes with the digestive system on race day, NEVER GOOD! Sorry 'bout that. 1:44 is not the worst time ever.

I say go with what you love. I really wish biking did not scare me so much, I would totally go for it right now. But, the speed scares me so I stick with spin classes. The change has been nice.
